Although I always use high quality and robust equipment, Unfortunately, equipment failure can happen at the most inconvenient moment, however, like all serious and professional DJ’s, I have some provision in place to tackle this issue. For example, spare laptop and music library. Hard drive failure on a laptop is one of the most common problems and will render the DJ useless unless there is a backup in place. As a precaution, I always carry a spare for every piece of equipment that will be used at your event, including, digital turntables, speakers, lighting, cables, mixer, even my van has RAC business breakdown cover to tow me to your venue if the unthinkable happens.

It’s always a good idea to check if your DJ has up to PAT test certificates. Not only do most venues require the DJ to have these certificates in order to operate on their premises, it also contributes towards equipment reliability and the safe use of mains cables within a public area, this is especially important when children are present.
|
It’s always a good idea to have every eventuality covered. Just like PAT testing, most venues require the DJ to have public liability insurance in order to operate on their premises. This type of insurance covers the cost of legal action and compensation claims made against the business; for example, the venue suffers damage due to the DJ’s equipment.

Correct vehicle insurance may not seem like an issue to be too concerned about for the client, but if the DJ gets pulled over by the police on their way to a function, and the vehicle does not have relevant insurance, the police will seize the vehicle resulting in a now show for your event. Insurance for DJ’s and entertainers carrying sound and light equipment is only available on commercial vehicles, i.e. Vans. It might be a good idea to ask your DJ what vehicle they will arrive in.
